LG G2

With the G2, it seems like LG took a lot of cues from its Korean counterpart and built what many called a Galaxy S4 clone. It's large, made of lots of plastic, shaped similarly and is jam-packed with more features than a single person can handle.

LG Optimus G

What Is It?

LG's best attempt at a high-end phone. It runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) with LG's custom UI 3.0 skin. It's available in slightly different AT&T and Sprint versions.

Who's It For?

Android users who crave some real horsepower.
Optimus G

Design

In both of its incarnations, the Optimus G is extremely rectangular by today's standards, and it feels solid. It's got a 4.7-inch "True HD IPS Plus" screen under Gorilla Glass 2, powered by Qualcomm's new quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2GB of RAM, with a 2,100mAh battery, LTE, and NFC along for the ride. The AT&T model has an 8MP camera, whereas the Sprint and unlocked versions have 13MP cameras.

Note: We spent the majority of our time with the AT&T version. We did, however, use the 13MP version for photo tests.

Using It

Your first thought will be "Holy crap, it's fast!" You're right. Your second thought will be, "Wait, where the hell are those settings I want to change? What the hell is wrong with these menus!?" You're right again. The speed makes up for it though. Apps fly open, and there's no lag anywhere in the system.

The Best Part

Again, it's the speed. We don't put a whole ton of stock in benchmarks, but it soundly beat everything else in some of them (Geekbench 2), and was always at least in the top five on others. It actually makes the Samsung Galaxy S III feel slow by comparison.

Tragic Flaw

It's the skin LG slapped on Ice Cream Sandwich. There's a very blocky, 2D look to it that makes the Optimus G look like it's running a much older version of Android, and the menus don't make any sense in terms of placement or prioritization.

This Is Weird...

The earpiece on the Optimus G is right where the glass meets the metal rim at the top, which creates a sharp edge. It's a bit like holding a cheese-grater to the side of your head. Even if you don't use your phone to talk much, it shouldn't hurt when you do.

Test Notes

The software has some redeeming qualities. The customizable quick menu in the notification screen is wonderful, and the camera software makes everything easily accessible. The latter also has a speak-to-click feature, where you can say "cheese" or "whiskey" and a photo will snap. Samsung had that first, but the difference is that LG's actually works every time. All pros and cons considered, it's on par with Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

Not surprisingly, the 13MP camera on the Sprint version trounces the AT&T Optimus G's 8MP snapper. It's noticeably sharper and performs much better in low light. The 13MP lens adds a tiny bump to the back (the 8MP version is flush), but it's hardly noticeable and well worth the trade-off. The 8MP isn't bad, but the 13MP is better.
The 13MP Optimus also beat out the Galaxy S III out in sharpness, though the Galaxy tended to have more accurate colors. Both LG phones have a major problem with continuous auto-focus. It refuses to lock, and it may ruin a good photo (especially with close-ups). Pray for a software fix. There wasn't much difference between the 8MP and 13MP Optimus Gs in video performance, but the Galaxy S III was much better.

The screen is fantastic. The Optimus G handily beat the the Galaxy S III when cranked up to full brightness; the Samsung looked yellow and dull by comparison. That said, LG's offering wasn't quite good enough to dethrone the HTC One X, which still has the best screen we've ever seen on a mobile device. Close, but the Optimus G leans blue by comparison, isn't quite as sharp, and doesn't have as wide of a viewing angle. See shot above (Left to right: One X, Optimus G, Galaxy S III)
Data speeds on AT&T's 4G LTE network were excellent. Sprint has barely rolled out their LTE network anywhere, however, so if you want that 13MP camera, you're going to be stuck with 3G data speeds until they get LTE up and running in your area. That may be a deal-breaker for some.
Battery life is excellent (tested on the AT&T version with LTE on). Even after lots of gaming with the screen on full blast, streaming music, and GPS tracking, it lasted into the evening. You can buy yourself even more time by switching to Eco mode, which "extends battery life by dynamically optimizing CPU control policy."
The lock screen could be a big plus, but it falls short. It can display some "If lost please contact..." information if you like, but it also displays your next upcoming appointment, which you may not want. You can't choose which calendar it pulls from, and you can't turn it off. There are four shortcuts (for Phone, Messaging, Browser, and Camera). Great, but you can't change them. So if you don't use Messaging or Browser, but use say Google Voice and Chrome instead, you have useless shortcuts. Would be nice to be able to customize.
Call quality was just okay on both phones. Not bad, but we've certainly heard better elsewhere. Also, it didn't help that our ear was being scratched off.
LG's custom keyboard is very error-prone if you use it as a sliding keyboard, but is a bit better if you're just tapping. You can also choose to use the stock Android keyboard (or download another) instead.
To put it bluntly, the Optimus G looks more like a tool than a toy. The square corners make it feel bigger than it is. The back has a subtle 3D pattern to it under the glass, but it's a major finger-print magnet.

Should You Buy It?

Not yet. This is an excellent phone; in fact, I'd choose it over a Galaxy S III. But! It's looking like the Optimus G may get even better in a matter of weeks. Rumors are churning that this'll be the template for the next Nexus phone, which means you'd get all the benefits of LG's great hardware, but with the much cleaner, faster, better stock Android 4.1 (or 4.2, possibly?) software. As long as it doesn't lose any features (like LTE, for example), that would be a very potent combination.

Panasonic P51 Vs LG Nexus 4 (Review)

Every day the mobile market is filled with the latest Smartphones. Recently the major electronics company Panasonic  has launched its new Smartphone, Panasonic P51 with Android4.2 Jelly bean.  Also we are  having the LG Nexus 4 which was released in November last year .

Both of this smartphone have the similar specifications but comes with some little difference that keeps them apart from each other. Let’s check out the Review and battle between the two quad core Android Smartphones.

Hardware (Processor and Operating System)

Operating System

Both of these smartphone has been packed with the latest  and trendy processor that is the quad-core and the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. Panasonic P51 has been manufactured by Panasonic itself  while the Nexus 4 is a co-produced by LG  and the Google. Though LG is selling the Nexus 4 , so it is considered to be the LG’s Product.

Panasonic P51 Vs LG Nexus 4

Nexus 4 Smartphone is believed to the first Smartphone which will receive any kind of new OS update in itself. It means one upgrade in future if there is some new version of the Android OS will be there.  P51 has been launched last week held the Nexus 4 has gained the global impact as it was launched in November last year.

Processor

Nexus 4 features  the 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad-Core Processor  with a 400 MHz Adreno 320 GPU while Panasonic P51 Device has been packed with the 1.2GHz MediaTek Quad Core A7 processor with PowerVR Series 5XT Display support.

Display

LG Nexus 4  receives a 4.7 inch WXGA IPS touch display offering a picture resolution of 1280x768pixels. This high resolution has a pixel density of 218 ppi. While the P51 device has a somewhat bigger screen  and offers the 5 inch IPS display with 1280x720px resolution getting the lower pixel density of 295 ppi.   More the pixel density  higher the display quality. So we can judge by this that Nexus 4  may have the best display quality that the P51.

Camera

The LG Nexus 4 has got  the 8.0 MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus support and 4x digital zoom. It also has the  1.3MP front facing camera.

The Panasonic P51 also features the equivalent 8.0 MP primary camera with auto focus and LED flashlight. It can record the videos at the higher resolution (1080p). Is also has 1.3MP front camera.

Storage

P51 is offering RAM memory of 1GB  with 4GB internal storage memory which can be increased further by using some MicroSD cards. LG Nexus 4 packs with 2GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. The bad thing about Nexus 4 is that it doesn’t have any support for external memory cards just like the P51.

Performance

Since the both of the devices have similar hardware/ Software configurations (Android 4.2 and quad core processor). The 2GB RAM of Nexus 4 makes it more reliable while multitasking as compared to P51 device.

Affordability

There is  the very minor difference between the cost of the Smartphones (LG Nexus 4 and Panasonic P51). The P51 device is available in Indian markets at the price of Rs 26,900 ($517). Where as the Nexus 4 has a price of Rs. 25,999.

Final Words

You may have read the specifications of  both of the devices at their launch and  here comes the time to decide which one will be a better choice among these two. As per the specification Nexus 4  is better in several features from P51 but it doesn’t have the Micro SD card support.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Vs HTC one (Review)

The both Android devices are very similar in their specifications but with some little measurable difference. Let’s check out the difference that will help you to choose the best one according to your taste.

Display Screen
Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with a 5-inch capacitive display while HTC one has a 4.7-inch display. Though the picture resolution of both the devices is same as 1920×1080. The visibility of the text is very sharp in both the Smartphones. So if you are comparing them on the display basis , then there is no big difference at all. Both are tied with each other.

Battery Backup
Every user wants to have a longer battery backup to his Smartphone. In a smart phone you will be always on the 3G mode and the everyday use apps like email, messaging, calling, Social Apps etc. consumes enough battery.
HTC One claims the battery backup of 13 to 14 hours on the average use of the Smartphone while for  Galaxy S4 its just of 12 hours within same uses. So the HTC one wins here.

Calling
These both are the premium Smartphone and posses a very high quality of calling facility. Both of these offers the noise cancellation feature which results in a very clear voice while calling.

Multimedia
Music : HTC One and S4 both come with, MP3, FLAC, M4A  music formats. But HTC one has its speakers located at the front which features a louder sound. Also  produce a distortion free higher sound quality. HTC beats Samsung in the case of sound quality.  HTC One comes along with the FM receiver while Galaxy S4 has no such options.

Videos : Samsung is well known for its video quality in Smartphones. HTC one has problems with certain video formats like AVI and HD videos after using the third party apps.

But when using the third party video apps like MX player, S4  produces the higher colour density and it becomes more enjoyable to watch the HD videos on it. So if you are fond of watching HD videos, then Samsung  S4 will be a better option.

Performance
Both are superb Smartphone in the case of the performance. A user can play the HD games like Dead Trigger  without any problems. Offering the smooth web surfing, both are featuring with 7MBPS constant  speed .

Both are packed with 2GB RAM, which ensure the effortless multitasking in these Smartphones. But when it comes to switching between apps, S4 lags behind HTC One. HTC provides a very smooth switching feature.

The UI
HTC is using Sense UI while Samsung is having the TouchWiz UI. Though the Sense UI looks better and attractive with the minimalist design.

But HTC one  has only two physical buttons for the navigation. Only Home and Back Buttons are available. The main menu can be accessed only thought the settings option. While in Samsung there are three buttons, Home , Back and the Menu. A user can easily customize the Home Screen very easily and can switch from one app to another.

Galaxy S4 features to work on two apps simultaneously on the single screen. Hence the S4 wins h with the user interface.

Camera
Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are very good in capturing the still images. S4 has got a 13 MP rear Camera which founds to be very consistent in performance. The images captured with  the S4’ camera are highly detailed and consists of  good colour and very sharp looking.
Galaxy S4 Vs HTC one
Galaxy S4 Vs HTC one

While HTC One has  the 4MP pixels camera which produces the same resolution for Still image as S4. But due to more MPs S4’ camera is considered to be better than HTC One.

Night mode for both of the devices has the very negligible difference

Which One I should Buy ?
These both Smartphone are better at their own place.  It’s very difficult to choose when you are having delicious sweets in two different plates.

If you want to watch HD video and also with an HD Image shooter and a better UI experience then you must go for S4 otherwise the HTC One remains there.

And if you already having some Smartphone and want to have a good performance of the device the incase of Music and Games then choose the HTC One.

budget iPhone will be launched this year.

iphone

According to ETrade Supply source a budget iPhone will be launched this year. ETrade is a cell-phone parts supplier whose Apple rumours were correct a number of times.

Some reports suggest that the budget iPhone will be made mostly from plastic which will make it cheaper to manufacture.

The rumoured iPhone may be a mid-range phone in terms of specs and quality.

Since Steve Jobs died, there doesn’t seem to be much life at Apple. Rumous of iTV have been around for a while, The china daily even said that Terry Gou the president of Foxconn, told them “Foxconn is making preparations for iTV”. Now even if this is true, how great of a product will it be? Hartfordbusiness.com says “…could get Apple back to its history of radical innovation.” But today, most people know how to hook-up their TV to a computer and download tones of content; this combined with Hulu will keep most people satisfied. So as far as innovation goes, this doesn’t seem like the game changer that Apple needs.
The iPhone was a Game Changer and stayed at the top until recently, but only because it was a first-to-market product and had a great brand. The sharks at Samsung knew this and did not sit by idly while Apple had a brain freeze. Instead they started offering cheaper and better products, and they also tackled the branding issue by spending a cool 10 billion. In 2012 Samsung spent 4.3 billion on advertising, more than Apple, HP, Microsoft and Coca-Cola combined, as well as 5.4 billion on sales, promotion and marketing. Money well spent. (All while delivering new popular and timely apps missing on the iPhone.)
So now the story is, Apple needs to make money somewhere and keep the brand alive while they wait for a new idea. So by releasing lower end models they plan to recapture market share, hold interest in their OS and keep investors happy. We all know what happens if you are off in the woods picking blackberries instead of doing something innovative or profitable. So Apple probably won’t find another Steve Jobs like mind anytime soon, but this may keep them in the race for market share.  Will Apple take command of their destiny, and Global Market Share, once again? Will Apple invent and be first to market with the next generation Consumer Electronics Game Changer? Or is it too late and history will note the impending low end release as an MBA spreadsheet contrived “A race to the bottom”.
How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle…
